Well, Emperor Blatter is at it again.

His recent statement that there is no racism in football (and that players taking offense should sort it out with a handshake after the game) has been followed up with a shallow,  'made for television' apology.

No resignation though.

Whether through naivety, arrogance or a combination of the two,  Blatter actually suggests that there is no discrimination of any type in football. Perhaps he should try telling that to the world's gay population- the very people he advised to stay away from the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar due to the Gulf State's strict anti-homosexuality laws.

Had South Africa hosted the event during the Apartheid era, would he have advised black people to stay away? I wouldn't be surprised.

There is little denying that FIFA's reputation continues to plummet as Blatter maintains his stranglehold on the globe's most powerful sporting body, but where is the opposition?

Britain appears to be the sport's knight in shining armour. With the rest of the world oddly silent, the anti-Blatter sentiment continues to grow in the sport's birthplace. Whilst encouraging, it is unlikely that a single voice can have a significant impact.

Unless money is invovled.

Perhaps the most encouraging thing to emerge from this whole episode is that major sponsor Emirates is starting to waiver in its support. There can be no doubt that the only thing that can topple Emperor Blatter is a negative impact on the organization's bank balance.

It is hoped that other major sponsors start to accept the fact that their brands are being damaged by their association with the body and start cancelling their sponsorship agreements. Would a good corporate citizen really want to be associated with this level of corruption?

I hope not.
